Legal Proceedings

We work collaboratively with the legal and other professions, statutory agencies and other services who work to ensure the safety of others as a priority.

Where there are matters of risk, particularly where there are concerns around disputed child contact, child protection or risk to the general public because of issues relating to aggression, rage, violence, domestic violence and abuse and child physical or sexual abuse, we provide a comprehensive service for our clients.


Legal Profession – Defence

Local magistrates have told us that when considering mitigating circumstance, defendants being prosecuted due to issues relating to aggression, rage, anger, violence and domestic violence and abuse who have proactively and voluntarily sought to address their abusive behaviour by engaging with specialist services such as ourselves are more likely to receive a reduced sentence than those who make no effort to address their offending behaviour. They said that those defendants, who make no effort to address their offending behaviour, leave magistrates with no alternative but to impose a tougher sentence.

Our Services

We can provide:

• Psychotherapeutic Counselling for Offenders and Perpetrators to address their offending and abusive behaviour.
• Risk Assessments.
• Formative and Summative Client Progress Reports.
• Support Services for victims including children.
• Attendance at multi-agency meetings where required.

Risk Assessments

We can carry out the following Risk Assessments on your behalf:

• Domestic Violence Risk Assessment.
• Risk Assessments relating to Care and Contact Proceedings – Private and Public Proceedings.
• Child Physical Abuse Risk Assessment.
• Child Sexual Abuse Risk Assessment.
• Mother’s/Father’s ability to Protect – Risk Assessment.

Our professional counselling and therapy program for offenders and perpetrators can have a major impact in increasing the safety of others and reducing the risk of harm from the offender or perpetrator. Through working with the offender or perpetrator, enabling them to take responsibility for their abuse and recognise and change cognitive behaviour through various therapeutic processes and looking at themes such as victim empathy and reparation during their time with us, we are able to see real and lasting change. We also supply materials for clients to work with at home as part of the program and the cost for most materials is included in the session fees.
